Animal Crossing Wild World Addiction Journal 4

animal crossing wild world

This week has finally brought the culmination of roughly a month's worth of work. Every last tree not bearing native fruit has been replaced with a non-native fruit tree. I have all varieties scattered throughout in an attempt to make the fruit collection as varied as possible. The last 8 trees went into the ground this morning. I had to wait until all of the other ones had finished growing and producing fruit so I knew exactly which last 8 trees needed converting. It is truly a site to behold.

My entire town looks like a colorful and lush rainbow. Fruit can be seen very step you take, it really makes the entire place look beautiful, I can't wait to see it in the fall. Today also starts a very interesting process; seeing just how much money this much fruit can garner. The last time I did a test harvest, only the top part of my town was planted (roughly a third of the total) and it garnered about 40,000 bells. I expect the entire load to garner about 110,000 bells every 3 days and take roughly half an hour to harvest. That is some serious bells.

I plan to harvest the lot this afternoon and evening, and I am going to deposit all of my bells into the bank so that I can see just how much gets generated (minus the 8 trees still growing and the 3 I needed to prune to fill in the last 8). I hope to have my 598,000 bell mortgage paid off by next week's journal; we will see...

With all of the harvesting going around you would think there would be very little time for anything else, but I can assure you that I have been keeping busy. My Scorpion and Taratula hunt is still going albeit, very slowly. The culmination of my efforts happened Wednesday night. I got attacked by both a Tarantula and a Scorpion. Neither of them did I catch. The Tarantula caught me completely off guard by coming out from behind a rock and snuffing me before I could react (that's not true, I swung my net, but my aim was off). The Scorpion I should have caught. It was just standing there. I gradually creeped up on it but then it moved and I thought it was trying to run away. So I turned on the juice and ended up running right into it, swinging my net and hitting a tree while the little bugger bit me. Very frustrating, I have not been able to see one since.

My beetle hunting has been going pretty well. Almost every time I log in at night I find at least one or two of the more expensive beetles. This has been working well to finance my furniture buying needs. Which brings me to the point that I am running out of storage space at my house. Is there only one storage cabinet you can get and all storage cabinets after that simply go to the same storage space? If so, I am going to have to consider selling some stuff really soon...

I have heard that those of you in the United States have an awesome opportunity to get cool Mario gear if you go to Toys R Us. Can anyone confirm if that deal is coming or has come to Canada? Perhaps I should consider sending an email to Nintendo, because if they have that gear there, then I want to get me some of that!

Redd managed to sell me my second fake painting this week which is tiresome at best. Since Redd only comes once a week and since he generally sells rip-offs, I can see it taking me a long while to complete my collection of paintings at the museum. Blathers is going to get rather bored of checking my rip-offs, I hope that Redd starts to get his stuff together.

Anyway, I will post later on to let you know how my bell collecting is going, this week I will hopefully catch a Hammerhead Shark, Scorpion and Tarantula. Take care all, until next time!

Konami RPG Stars

konami rpg stars

In the world of email newsletters, I generally take an avoid at all costs stance. The exception to this rule is of course video game related newsletters. I receive email newsletters from Nintendo, Atlus, Namco, NIS America, 1up and, yes, Konami.

So it was that I was innocently sitting around yesterday and what should fall into my inbox? Why, an invitation to join something called the Konami RPG Stars website. Being interested in both Konami and RPGs (somewhat towards stars), I decided to give it a go. What I found was a very awesome idea that I highly applaud Konami for doing.

Basically, the gist is that you are being paid "stars" to perform certain tasks in the community which basically revolves around you participating in the community. That means you can participate in polls, read blogs, post entries in the forums, watch videos, you name it. The usual stuff you would do anyway when visiting an RPG related site.

The upside is that as you collect the "stars", you can redeem them for really cool Konami stuff like art books, games, stategy guides and more.

Overall I think this is a sweet idea and a very welcome "thank you" to the fans that really enjoy getting into the RPG scene. I hope more companies start up something like this, I would love to be a part of it.

Head on over to Konami RPG Stars and if you happen to like the idea and want to sign up, use my username lbabinz as your referral and help me make it one step closer to getting my awesome Suikoden V artbook!

Animal Crossing Wild World Addiction Journal 3

animal crossing wild world

This week was a week of contest, gardening and shopping. It started out with the big bug catching contest on Sunday. I had lost the fishing contest (mainly due to lack of trying), so I was intent on winning this one. Upon first visiting Tortimer, it appeared that I was already losing to a brown cicada. Not to be distraught, I set out to oust this giant amongst cicadas.

It was not to be a good day for finding big bugs. After several robust cicadas and cockroaches, not to mention honey bees, I finally caught another brown cicada that was slightly bigger. To commemorate that event, Tortimer gave me a White Bishop. Good deal I thought, but the cicada probably won't win me the contest. I continued on my search for something bigger and lo and behold, along came a bird wing butterfly. Weighing in at a whopping 290mm, I knew that the game was over. I even got a baby stroller for my accomplishment (a fitting addition, considering the missus and I are expecting).

With the bug trophy sitting proud on my mantle, it was back to building the ultimate collection of fruit trees. I have found (through trial and error) that almost all trees planted right where a tree was dug up will almost always grow. Therefore my current plan is to make all the trees in my town exotic fruit trees. My plan is about 50% done with the entire northern section of my town now holding exotic trees.

Just for a lark (and because my axe had broken and there were none to buy at the store), I decided to collect all my fruit so far and see what I could get. After about a half hour of harvesting, I was up at least 40,000 bells. Not bad for my half grown northern section of land! I can't wait to see what my fruit will bring when the entire place is growing.

I have been trying to play more at night to find several species of bugs I am missing (particularly the Tarantula and Scorpion of which I still have not seen any more of). I have not been having much luck, but I did find a Scarab beetle and an Atlas beetle to round out my collection. On a side note, I also caught a Banded (and Darner) dragonfly, of which I am happy. However, while stumbling around at night, what should I see? Why a UFO in the sky! Unfortunately, unlike the presents floating in the air on balloons, the UFO moves FAST. I was totally unable to catch it in time to shoot it down. I have put my slingshot in an easier accessible place in my inventory now so that next time ET is all mine...

As for sightings around my town, I met a few familiar faces this week. I ran into Gracie who finally gave me a new shirt. It is pretty cool too, brown with Asian writing. I quite like it and my character is currently sporting it. I also ran into the woman who sells turnips (forget her name) and Redd again. I pretty much ignored the turnip lady because I don't feel like trading yet (although next time I might pick one up so I can let it rot and find ants) but Redd was a little better. He actually sold me my first legit painting which the museum was very happy to see.

So, what is in store for this week? Well, I am getting a bit anxious about ever catching a Tarantula, Scorpion or Hammerhead shark, so I am going to be going hard on that. Also, I plan to reforest the entire southern half of my town; hopefully the trees will bear fruit. Until next time, don't forget to check out K.K's rocking show tomorrow!
